Slides are exported at 1920×1080 pixels (Full HD) by default. This is the standard presentation resolution and suitable for web, social media, and screen display.
PDF is a static format — animations and transitions are captured as the first (entry) state of each slide. For animated output, export as video using our Video Converter.
Enter a slide range (e.g., 1-5 or 3,7,12) in the options panel to export only selected slides. Leave blank to export all slides.
Common system fonts render correctly. Presentations using custom or uncommon fonts may show font substitution. Embed fonts in PowerPoint before uploading for best results.
Embedded video frames are captured as static images at the first frame. The video itself cannot be included in PDF or image outputs.
Slides with custom transparent backgrounds export with transparency intact in PNG output. Slides with solid colour backgrounds include that background colour.

Converting presentations is trickier than converting documents because slides mix text, images, shapes, animations, and embedded media in ways that not all output formats can represent.
PPTX to PDF: What You Get
Slide-to-Image Export at Full HD
When you export slides as PNG or JPG images, LibreOffice renders each slide to a virtual canvas at 1920×1080 pixels — matching the standard 16:9 presentation aspect ratio. PNG output preserves transparency in slides that use transparent backgrounds. JPG output adds a white background and applies JPEG compression, making files smaller at the cost of lossless quality. Images are numbered sequentially and bundled in a ZIP archive.
PPT vs PPTX: Legacy Format Differences
The legacy .ppt format (PowerPoint 97–2003) stores presentations as binary compound documents. Modern .pptx uses Open XML with a ZIP container. LibreOffice handles both formats. However, complex features introduced after PowerPoint 2007 — such as SmartArt, 3D effects, and embedded videos — may not be present in .ppt files. Converting .ppt to .pptx updates the file to the modern format without changing the content.
ODP for LibreOffice Collaboration
ODP (OpenDocument Presentation) is the ISO-standardised format for presentations, used natively by LibreOffice Impress. Converting a PPTX to ODP allows colleagues who do not have Microsoft Office to open, edit, and re-save the presentation with full layout fidelity. Most PPTX layouts, master slides, and transitions have ODP equivalents — complex animations may simplify but basic slide structure is preserved.
What Does Not Convert
Some PowerPoint elements do not have equivalents in other formats: embedded videos become static images, audio clips are dropped in PDF output, animations are absent in all non-PPTX outputs, and ActiveX/OLE objects may not render. For presentation videos, consider exporting directly from PowerPoint as MP4, which preserves all animated elements in a playback-friendly format.
